Cruise round mound Athos

Over one thousand years ago the first monastery of Great Lavra was built here –soon women were forbidden to enter. In the course of centuries 19 other monasteries filled with monks,
as well as dozens of ascet’s colonies as well as hermitages.
Now (after of period of breakdown in the 1980s) 20 monasteries live again, being inhabited by as many as 1.700 monks.
